The boys and the Scout Leader, Karen, with some of the parents helped them earn a Scout Badge by making toys for the birds!

In this blog category we are highlighting some of the great testimonials that we receive every day praising the work that FEBS does. We would like to share all of these beautifully kind words with all of you. This one is from Nickie and Jim Haggart of Fort Myers, Florida.

“We owned two wonderful, robust Moluccan cockatoos, Jiminy and Cricket, who have life expediencies longer than ours. They were just reaching their prime and we were beginning to show our years. They were wearing us out!

For more than a year, we searched for a good home for them but found nobody who had the commitment to give them a loving place to live for a long time. Finally we found Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary on the internet. We drove up to Wesley Chapel and were delighted with what we saw!

Jiminy and Cricket have been living at FEBS for several years now and we and they couldn’t be happier! There’s nothing like FEBS in Florida. It deserves your support in every way you can think of!”

We at FEBS thank you all for your generous gifts and loving words. It really helps us all to absolutely realize that we are making a great difference in not only the lives of the birds that we help but also in the lives of those who love them, call them family but can no longer take care of them properly.

If you have had a great experience with FEBS and would like to give your own testimonial we would love it if you could visit our Great Non-Profits site by CLICKING HERE and leave a review there. We will be picking reviews from there to highlight here on our FEBS blog. You will also be helping FEBS to be seen by building our reputation on Great Non-Profits which puts us in front of many potential donors and volunteers. Thank you from all of us here at FEBS!

Birds Who Need Sponsors: Sunny – Yellow Mutation Indian Ring Neck

Please Sponsor Me!

Please Sponsor Me!

Here at FEBS we have many birds who are not yet sponsored. They’ve all come here from various situations and reasons but they all require sponsorship in order to help FEBS make sure that they all get everything they need to live the rest of their lives out healthy and happy. We recently did a campaign where we posted several birds that needed sponsors and I am absolutely over the moon to tell you that 80% of them are now sponsored. You guys ROCK!!

However, we still have a lot of birds at the Sanctuary that need sponsors. So with that in mind, I am going to continue introducing you to more of our feathered friends who really need sponsors and ask you to please keep the generosity and compassion coming. Many of these birds came to FEBS with no sponsorship or had sponsorship but over the years the sponsor has passed on or is no longer able to help. We hope you or someone you know sees a bird that touches your heart and compels you to sponsor them.

Today’s unsponsored feathered friend is Sunny. Sunny is a 7 year old, male, Yellow Mutation Indian Ring Neck. Sunny’s family  brought him to FEBS over four years ago. Birds come to FEBS for many different reasons and Sunny was brought to us because his dander made the owner’s younger daughter very sick. The family was left with no other option so he was brought to us.

Sunny is happy chirping and singing all day. He enjoys eating grapes and will often share a peanut with his cage mate, Olive.

If you would like to sponsor Sunny please click the button below and you will be taken to a page where you can choose to sponsor him. Don’t forget to put his name in the comments section when you’re checking out.

On the side of the cage we’ve made a home for 22 Cockatiels! The Cockatiels were in a very old cage and we are so thrilled to be able to give them this wonderful new space!

We are currently working on erecting the Second Aviary thanks to the amazing generosity of some of our Bird Friends and Families! This one is going to be 6′ wide x 8′ high x 20′ long!! It’s going to be an aviary for the larger birds so we are very excited for the birdies!

More happy new home owners enjoy each others company!

We still need another 18 flight cages so we are asking you all to keep the aviary donations rolling so ALL of FEBS’ birds get to have the very best natural environment we can give them!! Each of the new cages normally cost $3800.00 but through a special price offered by Tom or http://www.cagemasters.com we can get them for $2800.00 delivered and installed. They have to be purchased through FEBS for that special price with no tax.

Today’s unsponsored feathered friends are Tango and Ricco. Tango and Ricco are a bonded pair of Black Headed Caiques. Tango and Ricco were both purchased as pets and both of their owners brought them to FEBS because they became very aggressive once they reached maturity.

This little couple is very cute and colorful! Both of them love to whistle to the volunteers and visitors that come to FEBS. They are much happier living with each other where they can share peanuts and play all day long!

Ricco’s favorite food is dried bananas and he often fills up the water dish with them!

Lori’s have a bottle brush tongue that allows them to eat nectar from flowers – because of this they require a special diet in captivity. Synka was given to us because he is VERY MESSY! Everything Lori’s eat is sticky and they enjoy flinging their food all over the cage, floor, walls, etcetera!

Synka now resides outside where his cage can be hosed down on a regular basis. His favorite treats are grapes and oranges!
